The 2021 Hunan International Cultural Tourism Festival will take place in Nanyue District, Hengyang City on November 12 and 13, according to a press conference held by the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism on October 20.
The festival theme is “Splendid Hunan, Unique Hengyang, and Magnificent Hengshan Mountain”. Three warm-up activities will be held, including China Hengshan Mountain Climbing Festival, a naming ceremony for high-speed train “Hengshan Mountain”, and Hengyang’s tourism promotion conference in Shanghai. Six special events will be arranged, inducing a launching ceremony for a blessing activity on Hengshan Mountain, the first China (Nanyue) Chinese painting biennial exhibition, and international travel agents conference.
The festival aims to facilitate the signing of cultural tourism projects, attract more foreign tourists, promote a tourism-related art performance, produce cultural creative products, offer healthy vegetarian dishes, develop travel routes and new business models in tourism, and upgrade tourism service facilities, so as to make a tour to Hengshan Mountain an all-for-one brand.
The Hunan International Cultural Tourism Festival has been held annually since 2002. It was suspended in 2020 due to the epidemic. This year the festival resumes and will help stimulate market consumption, and increase industrial investment and product supply of Hunan Province.
Nanyue District is home to the main scenic spot of Hengshan Mountain. In recent years, the district has aimed to create a world-class cultural tourism destination, and promoted rural tourism, red or revolutionary tourism, an art performance named "Legend of Zhu Rong", and intangible cultural heritage exhibitions. The district saw more than 13 million of annual tourist trips.
This festival is sponsored by the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and the Hengyang Municipal People's Government, and organized by the Hengyang Culture, Tourism and Sports Bureau and the Nanyue District People's Government.
