ZHENGZHOU, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- Archaeologists have discovered some ancient colored pottery figurines and pottery horses in central China's Henan Province.

The relics include more than 10 female pottery figurines and pottery horses belonging to the Western Han Dynasty (202 BC-AD 25). They were found in some ancient tombs in the city of Luoyang, said Zhao Xiaojun, head of the Luoyang City Cultural Relics and Archaeology Research Institute.

"This is the first time that we have found complete pottery female figurines and complete pottery horses from the Western Han Dynasty in Luoyang," Zhao said.

Some of the figurines are standing and some in sitting poses with the legs folded. They have been painted orange, light yellow and dark red.

The site was discovered last December.
