On March 26, 17 sets of railroad turnouts manufactured at the European standards were delivered from Zhuzhou, Hunan Province, and will be shipped to Argentina through Tianjin Port. This is Hunan's first shipment of Euro-standard railroad turnouts to Argentina, injecting new momentum into China-Argentina infrastructure cooperation.
These railroad turnouts were independently developed by the China Railway Construction Heavy Industry Corporation Limited (CRCHI), based on China's advanced intelligent manufacturing technology. Being tailored for the Argentinian market, these turnouts fully adapt to the specific requirements such as the rail track gauge and operational environment, while achieving technical breakthroughs in adaptability and stability, gaining recognition by the Argentinian clients.
This batch of turnouts is primarily tailored for the Light Rail Expansion Project in Mendoza, Argentina, said Lin Zhiwen, deputy director of the Research and Design Institute at the CRCHI Turnout Branch. A variety of turnout models are included in this shipment, such as No. 8 simple turnouts for 54E1 rail, and No. 8 and No. 9.5 diamonds. Meanwhile, new technologies such as a dedicated elastic clip fastening system are used to significantly enhance durability and safety while ensuring high reliability, which can effectively meet the complex operational conditions and maintenance needs of Argentina's railways.
As the birthplace of railways in South America, Argentina has a long history of railway development. The Light Rail Project in Mendoza has a total length of approximately 17 km, adopting standard gauge. There are 26 stations along the line. Once completed, the project will effectively alleviate traffic congestion in Mendoza, reduce environmental pollution, and improve urban transportation efficiency.
