With a resounding whistle echoing across the station at 11:00 a.m. on February 17, the X8428 China-Europe Railway Express, loaded with construction machinery, electronic appliances, and daily consumer goods, slowly pulled out of Changsha North Railway Station and headed west toward Europe. This was the first China-Europe Railway Express dispatched by Hunan in the Year of the Horse, accelerating high-quality development in the new year on both the Spring Festival supply assurance and foreign trade export fronts.
As of February 17, Changsha North Railway Station had sent 81 China-Europe Railway Express trains in 2026. Among them, 25 trains have been dispatched since the Spring Festival travel rush began on February 2, a year-on-year increase of 5%. The number of return trains reached 28, up 3% year-on-year; and 4,443 containers have been shipped, marking a "stable and successful start" to the new year.
"During the Spring Festival, demand for supplies including thermal coal and daily commodities is strong, and the number of inbound trains at Changsha North Railway Station continues to rise," said Yang Yong, the station master on duty at Changsha North Railway Station, China Railway Guangzhou Group Co., Ltd. He added that the station closely monitored the entire on-site operation process to complete crucial steps such as train marshaling and route arrangement as quickly as possible, ensuring the on-time departure of China-Europe Railway Express trains.
To fully meet enterprises' export shipping needs for the New Year and ensure the stability of international supply chains, the Changsha Railway Logistics Center has added two to three additional temporary trains, enabling a maximum of six international train departures per day.
