On February 17, the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism released tourism market data for the first day of the Year of the Horse. According to the big data modeling analysis of mobile phone signaling, the province received 22.9515 million tourist visits on the third day of the Spring Festival holiday, namely the First Day of the Chinese New Year. According to big data statistics from UnionPay Business, a total of 12.7162 million transactions were recorded that day, with a transaction volume of 3.354 billion yuan, representing a year-on-year growth of 6.81%.
Statistics from real-time monitoring via video cameras show that 1,048 monitored cultural and tourism venues received 599,100 tourist visits. Among them, 12 national 5A-level scenic areas welcomed 221, 600 tourist visits, up 4.34% year on year. The top three enclosed scenic areas were Hengshan Mountain Scenic Area in Hengyang, Yuelu Mountain and Orange Isle Scenic Area in Changsha, and Wulingyuan Scenic Area and Tianmen Mountain in Zhangjiajie.
The first day of the Year of the Horse saw a large number of tourists seeking blessings. Hengshan Mountain received 318, 300 tourists, a year-on-year increase of 23.66%. The 5A-level scenic area alone hosted 246,700 visits, rising 20.88% year on year. Meanwhile, Nanyueli, Space Museum and Zhurong Town received 71, 600 tourist trips, with a year-on-year growth of 36.9%. Many tourists also paid a visit to Shaoshan, the hometown of the great leader. As of 6 p.m. that day, the transfer center in Shaoshan transported 25, 800 passengers, and the city received a total of 39, 500 tourists.
In addition, on February 15, the first day of this year's Spring Festival holiday, Hunan received 21.3907 million tourist visits. On the second day (February 16), the number stood at 22.7068 million.
