Hunan's ports handled over 1.64 million entries and exits in 2025, marking a 0.9% year-on-year increase, according to the Hunan General Station of Immigration Inspection on January 2, 2026. In particular, more than 900,000 entries and exits were made by foreign nationals, representing 55% of the total. Both the number and proportion of foreign visitors ranked first in central China and were at the forefront nationwide, highlighting Hunan's robust vitality in opening up to the world.

Other detailed data shows that in 2025, Hunan's ports recorded over 710,000 entry-exit trips made by Chinese mainland residents, marking a 10% year-on-year increase, with steady demand growth in outbound tourism and business communication. Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan residents made more than 30,000 cross-border trips to and from Hunan, up 71% year-on-year, reflecting increasingly close economic and cultural exchanges between Hunan and these regions.

As a core hub for Hunan's opening to the outside world, the Changsha port has delivered outstanding performance. The Changsha Station of Immigration Inspection processed over 1.12 million inbound and outbound trips in 2025, marking a 6% year-on-year increase, with Chinese mainland residents accounting for 61% of the total. The port handled nearly 7,400 aircraft takeoffs and landings throughout the year, marking a 1.1% increase year on year. The Changsha Station of Immigration Inspection also oversaw inspections at the Yueyang port, completing checks on nine cargo ships traveling to and from Russia.

Zhangjiajie port has become a major gateway for foreign tourists entering Hunan Province. In 2025, the Zhangjiajie Station of Immigration Inspection handled over 3,400 inbound and outbound flights and more than 510,000 entry-exit trips, ranking first among ports of non-capital cities in central and western China. Approximately 94% of cross-border trips were made by foreign nationals, the highest proportion among all airports nationwide.

In 2025, Hunan also enhanced its immigration management service. During the year, the Hunan General Station of Immigration Inspection's 12367 service platform handled over 15,000 inquiries from Chinese and foreign nationals, marking a 7% year-on-year increase and with a 100% satisfaction rate. These efforts efficiently resolved queries regarding entry-exit policies and customs clearance procedures. Meanwhile, the station capitalized on policy initiatives including the online arrival card filing to establish a comprehensive service system, improving customs clearance efficiency by 30% and delivering a more convenient experience for travelers from home and abroad.
