The Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism released the latest cultural tourism data for the 2026 New Year's Day holiday on the evening of January 3. The telecommunication data showed that Hunan Province received over 14.45 million tourist trips during the holiday from January 1 to 3. More than 1.7 million tourist trips were made by people from outside the province, accounting for 12.44% of the total. The total tourism expenditure during the three-day holiday amounted to 15.48 billion CNY, including 2.059 billion CNY contributed by people from outside the province, accounting for 13.3% of the total.

Based on big data modeling and analysis from visitor flow monitoring cameras, the top three open-air scenic areas by cumulative tourist trips are: Changsha's Chaozong Street Cultural Tourism Block, Xiangtan's Shaoshan Tourism Area, and Xiangxi Prefecture's Fenghuang Ancient Town Tourism Area. The top three enclosed scenic areas by cumulative tourist trips are: Changsha's Yuelu Mountain-Orange Isle Tourism Area, Hengyang's Hengshan Mountain Tourism Area, and Zhangjiajie's Wulingyuan-Tianmen Mountain Tourism Area.
