Hunan's total import and export value reached 486.68 billion CNY in the first eleven months of 2025, including 290.22 billion CNY in exports and 196.46 billion CNY in imports, according to recent data from the Changsha Customs Authority. In November alone, the province's total import and export volume grew by 21.3% month-on-month to reach 49.38 billion CNY, with imports hitting a record high of 22.06 billion CNY this year.
In the first 11 months, Hunan's imports and exports to traditional markets reached 134.15 billion CNY, accounting for 27.6% of the province's total import and export value during the same period. Emerging markets contributed primarily to the growth, with Hunan's trade with ASEAN, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East increasing by 0.5%, 3.1%, 14.3%, and 1.6% respectively, accounting for 47.7% in total. The number of enterprises involved in import-export activities reached 8,556, an increase of 8.3% year-on-year.
Exports of mechanical and electrical products and imports of bulk commodities continued to grow. During the January-November period, Hunan exported mechanical and electrical products worth 168.54 billion CNY, up 1.7% year-on-year, accounting for nearly 60% of the province's total exports during the same period. Among these, exports of automobiles (including chassis) and electrical equipment both grew by over 20%. Exports of the "new three" products—electric vehicles, lithium batteries, and photovoltaic products, construction machinery, and rail transit equipment increased by 81.5%, 7.6%, and 24.2%, respectively. Exports of high-tech products reached 35.77 billion CNY, up 26.8%.
Imports of bulk commodities such as metal ores, soybeans, coal, and crude oil reached 75.55 billion CNY in the first 11 months, marking a 9% increase.
