In 2029, the 16th National Games will take place in central China for the first time, making it the highest-standard, largest-scale, and most influential comprehensive sports event ever hosted by Hunan Province. As the main venue for the 16th National Games, the Changsha Olympic Sports Center Project started construction on April 27 this year. The project is bounded by Qiangti Road to the north, Aoti Avenue to the east, Wanjiali Road to the south, and Xiangjiang Avenue to the west. It is developed by the Changsha Urban Development Group Co., Ltd., and jointly built by the China Construction Fifth Engineering Bureau, the China Construction Third Engineering Bureau, and other units.

The center features a main stadium with a capacity of 65,000, along with two gymnasiums: a comprehensive one that can hold 18,000 people and an aquatics center for 4,000. With a total construction area of approximately 541,700 square meters, the center is scheduled to be completed and delivered in 2028.

Upon completion, the 60,000-plus-seat center will address Hunan's lack of a large-scale professional sports venue, establishing itself as the province's largest and most modern comprehensive sports facility. It will serve as a new landmark for building Hunan into a province strong in sports and a major industrial catalyst to activate the development of the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan metropolitan area, laying a solid foundation for Hunan's successful hosting of the 2029 National Games.
