On December 1, Shen Xiaoming, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, met in Changsha with Gladys Martinez Verdecia, member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC) and first secretary of the Provincial Committee in Artemisa, who led a PCC delegation to Hunan.

Secretary Shen welcomed the Cuban guests on behalf of the provincial Party committee and provincial government. He noted that in recent years, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, Hunan and Cuba have maintained frequent exchanges, with closer party-to-party and government-to-government interactions. The two sides have continuously strengthened mutual learning and understanding, and actively advanced cooperation in agriculture, biomedicine, and other fields, yielding fruitful results. Secretary Shen expressed his hope that both sides would build upon this solid foundation of collaboration to further enhance and expand pragmatic partnership in such areas as cultural tourism, new energy, and information and communications technology, thereby better benefiting the people of both regions.

Secretary Martinez expressed her gratitude for the warm reception from Hunan. She mentioned that Cuba's Artemisa Province and Hunan Province have continued to deepen cooperation and communication recently, sharing broad prospects for collaboration. The secretary expected to further learn from and draw on Hunan's development experience through this visit and inspection, expanding cooperation in more areas to achieve mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.

Also present were Ma Hui, vice minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee and Hunan provincial leader Zhang Yingchun.
