September 2025 marks the first national science popularization month.

On this occasion, the 12th Franco-Chinese Month of the Environment Changsha serial events, also the "TerraFibra Architecture Exhibition," opened at the Changsha Library on September 27. Themed "Horizons bleus, défis verts (Blue horizons, green challenges)," this session highlights protecting the mutually-dependent and co-existence relations between the ocean and land ecosystems.

The "TerraFibra Architectural Exhibition" features two parts—Terra and Fibra—referring to different types of earth-based construction projects and different types of plant fiber-based construction projects, respectively. Fourty candidate projects for the first TERRAFIBRA Award in 2021 were showcased, together with worldwide architectural cases that primarily use natural materials. The exhibition highlights the quality and advantages of natural materials, and demonstrates the combination of traditional and innovative construction techniques.

Laurent Cuénoud, vice-consul of the Consulate General of France in Wuhan, and He Kuan, vice chairperson of the Changsha Association for Science and Technology, unveil the exhibition together.

After the opening ceremony, a lecture on Liuyang's traditional rammed earth dwellings was given by Luo Ming, associate professor from the School of Architecture and Art, Central South University. Prof. Luo demonstrated the wisdom and inheritance embodied in the earth construction craftsmanship.

Initiated in 2014, the Franco-Chinese Month of the Environment is an interdisciplinary event hosted by the Embassy of France to China across multiple Chinese cities. It focuses on environment issues, aims to raise public awareness of environmental protection while strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the field of environment.

The exhibition opens to the public free of charge at the exhibition hall on the fourth floor of Changsha Library, and will continue until October 27.
