The "Hibiscus and the Thistle – A Panorama of Hunan" Chinese Folk Chamber Music Concert was staged at the UK's Signet Library, a venue hailed as "the most beautiful drawing room in Europe," during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe on August 25.

More than 200 attendees from the Edinburgh Festival Fringe organizing committee, Scottish Dance Theatre, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and the University of Cambridge, among other institutions, appreciated the concert.

The concert was part of the "China Focus" closing segment of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Rooted in Hunan's profound cultural heritage, the concert seamlessly blended traditional Chinese instrumental music with contemporary expressions.

The repertoire not only showcased the charm of traditional Chinese music but also demonstrated its new dynamism through integration with Western string instruments and local Scottish cultural elements.

After the concert, the audience flocked to the stage to communicate with the musicians and learn more about the traditional Chinese musical instruments.
