On the morning of August 4, flight KN5837 taking off at Beijing Daxing International Airport landed at Xiangxi Biancheng Airport. As of the end of July this year, Xiangxi Biancheng Airport had completed a total of 1,970 flight operations, with passenger throughput exceeding 200,000.

The Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture boasts 28 national-level intangible cultural heritage sites, over 1,500 historical and cultural landmarks, and more than 400 nationally recognized ecological and cultural tourism brands. However, due to difficult access, many of these tourist resources have remained hidden and unknown to the outside world for years.

On August 18, 2023, Xiangxi Biancheng Airport officially opened, causing the local cultural and tourism market to "soar."

"Xiangxi Biancheng Airport is positioned as a regional airport serving tourism in western Hunan Province, primarily serving the surrounding areas of Zhangjiajie and Huaihua, as well as Tongren, Xiushan, and Enshi of other provinces. The airport helps Hunan Province to build a comprehensive aviation network," said Cheng Jun, Party secretary and president of the Xiangxi Biancheng Airport. The airport currently operates flights to 12 destinations, including Beijing, Ningbo, Kunming, Shenyang, Zhengzhou, Haikou, Chengdu, Wenzhou, Guilin, Hefei, Xi'an, and Quanzhou, with a total of seven routes.

Since the start of the summer travel season, the airport has teamed up with China United Airlines and Ctrip Group to launch a livestreaming event titled "Enjoying Singing in Aizhai, Drinking in Xiangxi Under the Moonlight" at the Aizhai Scenic Area. The event showcased the new routes, ground transportation, and unique services offered by Xiangxi Biancheng Airport, immersively presenting the charm of Xiangxi's aviation and tourism industries. The live stream attracted 1.487 million viewers.

Currently, the Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture has gradually established a new, efficient, and convenient multimodal transport system featuring "air travel, high-speed rail, and expressways." In the first half of 2025, Xiangxi Prefecture received a total of 33.1807 million tourist trips, who spent a total of 35.728 billion CNY.
