Hunan, National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine Sign Cooperation Agreement

On July 16, the People's Government of Hunan Province and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine signed a cooperation agreement in Changsha, to jointly build the National Germplasm Resources Bank for Medicinal Herbs. Shen Xiaoming, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee; Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of Hunan Province; and, Yu Yanhong, member of the CPC Leadership Group of the National Health Commission and director of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, witnessed the signing of the agreement.


Zhang Yingchun, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and executive vice governor of Hunan Province, and Wang Zhiyong, deputy director of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, signed the cooperation agreement on behalf of their respective sides.

According to the agreement, the two sides will fully integrate their advantageous resources to build a solid and sustainable strategic cooperative relationship. They will jointly promote construction, operation, and long-term development of the National Germplasm Resources Bank for Medicinal Herbs by highlighting the building of preservation bank, preservation nursery, and utilization research center for germplasm resources of medicinal herbs. They will strive to build the bank into a strategic conservation facility for germplasm resources of medicinal herbs, a hub for scientific and technological innovation and talents of medicinal herbs, an engine for transformation of scientific and technological achievements of medicinal herbs and for revitalization of the seed industry, as well as a high-level platform for international exchanges and cooperation of medicinal plants.


Also attending were academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Cao Xuetao, Liu Liang, Chen Shilin, Zou Xuexiao, Bai Lianyang, and Wu Yiqiang; provincial leader Qin Guowen; responsible officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs; relevant experts in and out of Hunan Province; and leaders from relevant provincial departments and cities and prefecture.
