During the first half of this year, the Huaihua International Land Port has launched 601 international freight train trips, fulfilling 50.1 percent of its annual goals and rising 31 percent year on year. These train trips included 221 for rail-sea intermodal freight train service and 165 for China-Laos freight train service. Sixteen cold-chain freight trains were launched, overfulfilling the annual goals by 129 percent.
As a crucial logistics hub in central China, the Huaihua International Land Port has handled 30,068 containers in the first half, with the cargoes weighing 500,000 tonnes and worth about 3.9 billion CNY. The performance of cold-chain freight train service was impressive, delivering 816 cold-chain containers of fruits and vegetables with a total value of 37.78 million CNY. The Hunan-Yunnan cold-chain freight train through the Lancang-Mekong Express service has been operated regularly, laying a solid foundation for the operation of schedule-fixed two-way international cold-chain freight train service.
In terms of transport efficiency, the Huaihua West-Qingzhou Port East freight train which was launched on April 26 has shortened the transport time from three or four days to only 30 hours. On June 24, the cross-border railway transport featuring "bulk cargo-to-container" reloading service, which is collaborated with the Land Sea New Channel Operation Ningxia Co., Ltd, was launched. It can realize efficient delivery of chemicals from China's northwest regions to Vietnam within ten days, increasing efficiency by 50 percent compared with the conventional mode and cutting costs by 30 percent.
In the future, the Huaihua International Land Port will focus on expanding the markets in northwest regions, undertaking cross-border transport of coals, ores, and other bulk commodities via Huaihua, to constantly enhance its role as a "gold pathway".
