The Belt and Road Health Industry Development Think Tank (Macao) — Xiangxi Miao TCM Innovation Hub (Hengqin-Macao) was officially inaugurated at the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, marking that the Xiangxi Miao TCM will "go global" from here.
As the first international cooperation platform focusing on ethnic medicine, the hub will advance modernization, research and development, and international promotion of Miao TCM, helping Chinese medicine better serve the "Belt and Road" Initiative. The Xiangxi TCM is mainly based on the traditional medicine of the Tujia and Miao ethnic groups, making good use of herbal resources and possessing unique diagnostic and treatment techniques. Obtaining a number of representative national intangible cultural heritage items, the Xiangxi TCM has been actively exploring the path of inheritance and innovative development.
The innovation hub is jointly built by a Macao company and a Hunan Miao TCM institute, focusing on standardized research, digital and intelligent application, and cross-border promotion of Miao TCM. The first batch of ten types of products, including Miao TCM plasters and foot bath packs, will be introduced to the markets of Portuguese-speaking countries through Macao's CEPA policy.
The partners have agreed to jointly establish a digitization platform for Miao TCM literature, declare key TCM projects in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and develop Miao TCM health product lines suitable for the international market. The first batch of cooperative products will aim to develop markets in Southeast Asia and Portuguese-speaking countries. The Hengqin Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Co-operation Between Guangdong and Macao will provide one-stop services such as GMP certification and product registration, said a spokesperson of the Hunan Miao TCM institute.
