Recently, the 7th National County Tourism Research Achievements Presentation Events were held in Zhejiang Province. The 2025 National County Tourism Research Report was released, with six county-level cities and counties from Hunan Province making the list of "China's Top 100 Counties with Comprehensive Tourism Strength."
Hunan ranked fourth nationwide with six places shortlisted--Liuyang County-level City, Changsha County, Ningxiang County-level City, Fenghuang County, Jishou County-level City, and Pingjiang County. Among them, Liuyang secured the third position, while Jishou entered the ranking for the first time.
Additionally, the 2025 list of "China's Top 100 Counties with Tourism Development Potentials" was announced. Hunan's Zixing County-level City, Ningyuan County, Liling County-level City, and Leiyang County-level City made the cut. Notably, Zixing ranked 10th nationwide.
Miluo County-level City, Anhua County, and Yueyang County were included in the 2025 list of "China's Top 100 Fastest-Growing Counties in Tourism."
The report revealed that, in 2024, China's county-level tourism destinations received an average of 5.8079 million tourist visits, marking a 14.26% year-on-year increase, with total tourism revenue growing by 9.96%. Tourists are increasingly engaging in in-depth experiences, with Gen Z and Millennials becoming the main force of county tourism consumption. The county tourism sector is characterized by distinctive features of being "small yet beautiful, refined yet unique."
