Fifteen containers of hydrogen peroxide departed from the Chenglingji New Port in Yueyang recently. These containers will be shipped directly to Vladivostok Slavyanka Port, Russia, by a vessel operated by the YueYang Xiang E Speed Navigation International Logistics Co., Ltd. (XESH). This marked the launch of Hunan's first direct shipping route to Russia for hazardous chemicals, opening a new channel for Hunan-Russia trade in this sector.

In 2023, an international direct shipping route linking Yueyang's Chenglingji and Russia's Vladivostok began operation. It is Hunan's second direct water transport route for import and export.

Mainly transporting conventional goods like auto parts and timber, this route has achieved an upgrade from solely transportation service to a transport-trade integrated model, featuring enhanced trade efficiency and lower logistics costs.

"Its launch breaks through the conventional logistics mode that Hunan's exported hazardous chemicals had to be transported by truck from factories in Linxiang to Yantian Port in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, for transshipment. It realizes factory-Chenglingji New Port-Russia direct delivery," said a manager of the Yueyang Chenglingji New Port Co., Ltd.

Through this route, the comprehensive logistics cost per container can be reduced by 800 CNY while the transportation efficiency is ensured. It provides a more competitive logistics solution for export of hazardous chemicals from northern Hunan.

"With the coordination and support of the Yueyang Port Authority, Yueyang Customs Authority, and Yueyang Maritime Safety Administration, this direct shipment of hazardous chemicals to Russia underwent comprehensive, innovative, and stringent oversight throughout the entire process," stated a manager of the Yueyang Chenglingji New Port Co., Ltd. "As the route operation matures, the Chenglingji New Port is estimated to achieve a steady monthly increase of 300 TEUs in container throughput."
