Hunan's exports of fireworks and firecrackers hit 1.38 billion CNY in the first four months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 34% and accounting for 55.6% of the national total, data from the Changsha Customs Authority showed on May 19, 2025.
Changsha accounted for nearly 90% of the provincial total exports of fireworks and firecrackers. Its exports of fireworks and firecrackers rose 31.7% to 1.24 billion CNY during the January-April period, accounting for 89.9% of the provincial total. Zhuzhou's exports of fireworks and firecrackers climbed 58% to 140 million CNY while Changde's surged 398% to 115,000 CNY.
The United States was the largest export market of Hunan Province. Between this January and April, Hunan's exports of fireworks and firecrackers to the United Stated grew 20.5% to 710 million CNY, accounting for 51.5% of the provincial total. The province exported 130 million CNY of fireworks and firecrackers to the ASEAN countries, up 4% and accounting for 9.6%, while those to Africa reached almost 19.57 million CNY.
Hunan's exports of fireworks and firecrackers saw general growth in the European market. In the first four months, Hunan Province exported 320 million CNY of fireworks and firecrackers to the European market, an increase of 119.2%. Among them, exports to Germany, Poland, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Spain, and the Czech Republic surged 261.9%, 124.2%, 651.8%, 116.6%, 108.8%, and 273% respectively.
According to the Changsha Customs Authority, increased domestic production capacity available for export led to a significant rise in Hunan's exports of fireworks and firecrackers during the first four months of this year. Take Liuyang as an example, it has approved customs registration of seven new fireworks export and manufacturing enterprises this year.
