Hunan Delegation Promotes Economic, Trade Cooperation in Hong Kong

Between May 12 and 14, the Hunan delegation held a series of economic and trade investment promotion events in Hong Kong, thoroughly implementing President Xi Jinping's important speeches and instructions on the work of Hunan Province and advancing Hunan's comprehensive integration into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.


Leung Chun-ying, vice chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) attended the Hunan-Hong Kong Investment and Financing Matchmaking Conference. Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Hunan governor, led the Hunan delegation to participate.

Governor Mao held discussions respectively with HKSAR Acting Chief Executive Eric Chan Kwok-ki, and Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in HKSAR Zheng Yanxiong. They exchanged views on such aspects as enhancing financial cooperation, economic and trade exchanges, technological innovation, cultural and tourism interconnectivity, and youth communication, aiming to leverage comparative advantages of each party and jointly achieve win-win results.


On May 13, Governor Mao visited Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), learning about its experience and practice in innovation achievement transformation, and talent cultivation and incentives. He expressed hope that Hunan will join hands with HKUST, deepening collaboration in technological innovation, talent cultivation, and disciplines development.


On May 14, Governor Mao held a symposium with more than 50 representatives of Hunan entrepreneurs and alumni of Hunan's universities in Hong Kong and Macao. He urged Hunan entrepreneurs and alumni to seize opportunities in industrial development, technological innovation, market expansion, and opening-up in inland areas. He called on them to act as spokespersons and campaigners of Hunan's development, to facilitate Hunan's deeper integration into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and contribute to greater achievements in industrial collaboration, technological breakthroughs, resource integration, and global market exploration.


During his stay in Hong Kong, Governor Mao also visited the China Merchants Group, China Resources Group, China Tourism Group, China State Construction International Holdings, and the Hong Kong Science Park.
