February 15 marked the 14th day of the Spring Festival travel rush and the first day of the Spring Festival holiday. According to China Railway Guangzhou Group, railway passenger flow remains high as the holiday kicks off. On that day, the Guangzhou Group saw 2.406 million passenger departures, an increase of 8.6% year-on-year, and 2.085 million passenger arrivals, up 11.1% year-on-year. Data showed that since the peak of the travel rush started on February 6, the Guangzhou Group has recorded over 2 million passenger departures daily for 10 consecutive days.
The Guangzhou Group has been continuously optimizing its transport capacity plan. On February 15, it operated 3,631 trains, including 440 additional scheduled trains (404 EMU trains—including 290 overnight high-speed EMU trains—and 36 ordinary-speed trains) mainly departing from Guangzhou and Shenzhen to popular destinations such as Hunan, Hubei, Guangxi, and Fujian. Tickets were still available for travel from Changsha South Station to Fuzhou, Hangzhou West, Shanghai Hongqiao, Shaoyang and Guangzhou.
The Spring Festival travel services have been made even more heartwarming. Since February 6, China Railway Guangzhou Group has launched a "Joyful Market on the Go" Themed New Year Gift Fair at its four major hub stations, namely Guangzhou South, Guangzhou Baiyun, Shenzhen North, and Changsha South, blending the distinctive cultures of Guangdong and Hunan. Changsha South Railway Station features a "Leading the Way in Hunan Style", fully displaying local charm. Well-known time-honored brands and famous names such as Guangzhou Restaurant, Hsu Fu Chi, Fire God Palace, and Chayan Yuese have come together, offering 47 selected souvenirs ranging from classic snacks and festive gift boxes to specialty sauces. Passengers can take advantage of their waiting time to pack up "Cantonese local flavors" and "Hunan cultural sentiments", bringing the Chinese New Year festive vibe of the cities along the railway back to their hometowns.
