Secretary Shen, on behalf of the provincial Party committee and the provincial government, welcomed the guests and briefed them on conditions in Hunan Province. He noted that, as a globally famous multinational technology corporation, Apple Inc. has established effective communication and cooperation with Hunan. The province has been thoroughly studying and implementing the spirit of President Xi Jinping's important speeches and instructions made during his inspection tours in Hunan, Secretary Shen said, adding that the province has continued to exert efforts to become a national hub for important, advanced manufacturing industries, a sci-tech and innovation center with core competitiveness, and a pacesetter for reform and the opening up of China's inland regions, advancing the high-level opening-up process. He expected Apple Inc. to continue strengthening its collaboration with Hunan enterprises, expanding its supply chain layout in Hunan, and participating in efforts to build Changsha into a global research and development center city. The provincial authority will continue to create a market-oriented, law-based, and internationalized business environment, providing quality services for all kinds of enterprises such as Apple Inc. to invest and thrive in Hunan.

Jeff Williams thanked Hunan for its support for Apple's growth and appreciated the achievements of Hunan's economic and social development. He remarked that Apple Inc. and Lens Technology, a Hunan-based enterprise, have been long-term partners since the first generation of Apple cell phones. Both sides have made great progress in cooperation in intelligent and green manufacturing. Apple is willing to enhance exchanges and collaboration with Hunan in such areas as supply chains, talent training, and smart and green manufacturing.

Provincial leaders Zhang Yingchun and Qin Guowen also attended.
