A China-Laos freight train pulled out from the Huaihua Western Railway Logistics Park on October 16. The train, fully loaded with chemical fertilizers, agricultural machines, and electronic products, would pass through Mohan Port in Yunnan Province, and arrive in its destination in Vientiane, Laos.
In 2024, Hunan has handled over 6,500 China-Laos freight trains, marking a year-on-year increase of nearly 62.1%.
As the Huaihua International Land Port construction advances, the infrastructure facilities in the Huaihua Western Railway Logistics Park have been strengthened, the railway transportation capacity has been further enhanced, and cargo transport keeps operating at a high level. Anticipating strong demand, the China-Laos freight service has become the most convenient and stable logistics channel for ASEAN in Hunan, even the central and eastern regions of China.
Aiming at further lowering logistics cost, Hunan's railway authority launched the Changsha-Huaihua One-stop Logistics freight trains, and has explored a "China-Laos Railway + New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor" international multimodal transport mode, linking the comprehensive transport and logistics hub in provincial capital Changsha with the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor. The authority also proactively identified clients' needs, enhancing coordination and collaboration throughout the entire process of cargo acceptance, loading and unloading, and delivery. This optimization of work procedures reduced working hours and opened green channels to ensure fast and seamless connections between delivery, inspection, and transshipment, effectively increasing the transport efficiency.
Next, the authority will target at Hunan's plan of building five international trade channels, accelerating establishment of a "channels + hubs + networks" modern logistics system, and constantly boosting the China-Laos freight train service to dovetail with various logistics chains and networks, so as to fuel Hunan's regional economic development.
