A batch of live soft-shelled turtles, weighing 200 kg, was delivered from the Changsha Huanghua International Airport to Kenya on September 17.

These soft-shelled turtles were cultivated in Changde, Hunan Province. This was the first time that Hunan's soft-shelled turtles have been exported to Africa.

Changde's soft-shelled turtles have enjoyed a high reputation nationwide for high quality and unique taste.

Five to six more tonnes of soft-shelled turtles will be exported later, according to the manager of the exporting company.

The Changsha Customs Authority has provided policy guidance and technological support to exporting companies in advance, in order to facilitate export of Hunan's featured aquatic products. It has opened a "green channel" for exported fresh and live products and optimized the customs clearance procedures, so that the aquatic products can be delivered on the same day they are caught.
