Digital Huxiang Museum, Changsha's New Landmark at Tianxin Pavilion

A digital museum of Huxiang culture opened in Changsha on September 5, 2024. Named the "Lan Tianxin-Digital Intelligent Huxiang Museum", it is located at the foot of Tianxin Pavilion. It displays cultural relics related to the influential figures in Hunan history, creating an immersive Huxiang culture-themed experience based on the cutting-edge digital and intelligent technologies. A brand-new "culture + science and technology" cultural and tourism innovation project takes shape.

A number of personages were present at the opening ceremony, including Prof. Lin Qian from China University of Political Science and Law; Zeng Yue, the sixth-generation grandson of Zeng Guofan, a well-known Hunan-born politician and founder of the Xiang Army in the Qing Dynasty; Chen Yuxiang, Party secretary of Yuelu Academy of Hunan University; and, famous writer and scholar Tang Haoming.

The museum is also a multi-disciplinary research outcomes transformation project of Hunan University, technologically supported by the National Supercomputing Center in Changsha. The total area of the museum exceeds 3,000 square meters.

"AI figure" Zhu Xi can answer visitors' questions, such as "What does 'seeking truth from facts' mean", and "where can I have fun and taste delicacies in Changsha". Based on great Neo-Confucian master Zhu Xi in the Song Dynasty, this AI figure is created by the National Supercomputing Center in Changsha.

"Changsha has never changed its name and location since 3,000 years ago, boasting profound cultural deposits. We initiated this project to activate, inherit, and carry forward Changsha spirit and Huxiang culture," said Chen Hao, a professor of Hunan University and also the initiator and planner of this museum.
