The Hunan Science and Technology Conference, also the Provincial Science and Technology Award Conference, was held in Changsha on September 3.

The meeting thoroughly studied and implemented the spirits of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, the National Science and Technology Conference, the National Science and Technology Award Conference, the Meetings of the Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and President Xi Jinping's important speeches and instructions made during his inspection tours in Hunan.

The conference commended units and sci-tech workers who have made outstanding contributions to the development of science and technology in the province. The move aimed to accelerate the building of a strong province in science and technology, continue to vigorously create a sci-tech innovation hub with core competitiveness, and contribute sci-tech strength to writing Hunan's own chapter in the Chinese path to modernization.

At the conference, the situation of the province's winning of the 2023 National Science and Technology Award was announced, and the Decision of the People's Government of Hunan Province on the 2022-2023 Hunan Provincial Science and Technology Award (including Guangzhao Science and Technology Award) was read out. Shen Xiaoming, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, presented the Provincial Science and Technology Outstanding Contribution Award to Chen Xiaohong. Participating provincial leaders granted awards to other winners. Representatives of the award winners Chen Zhengqing, Liu Feixiang, and Li Li delivered speeches.

Hunan Vice Governor Cao Zhiqiang spoke at the conference's second meeting that afternoon, and representatives of relevant units gave speeches.

The conference was attended by provincial leaders Wang Shuangquan, Wu Guiying, Xie Weijiang, Wei Jianfeng, Yang Haodong, Wang Yiguang, Zhang Yingchun, Qin Guowen, Wu Lan, Zhang Jian, Zhang Zhuohua, Guo Zhenggui, and Pan Biling; Chen Jinbao, vice principal of the National University of Defense Technology; Li Jiancheng, principal of the Central South University; Tian Hongqi, chairman of the Hunan Association for Science and Technology; and, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering in Hunan.
