The 26th Hunan (Nanshan) Liuyueliu Folk Song Festival will take place in Chengbu Miao Autonomous County, Shaoyang City on August 25.
As one of the three warm-up activities of the third Shaoyang Tourism Development Conference, the festival will be held from August 24 to 28, highlighting three major events—a nationwide folk song showcase; an offline open mic activity; and, folk performances and a bazaar.
The first offline open mic activity will be held on the evening of August 24. Participants with outstanding performances will have the chance to join in the nationwide folk song showcase and win the entrance tickets for the opening ceremony and art performances of the third Shaoyang Tourism Development Conference and a gift package of local specialty products.
The nationwide folk song showcase will be held on August 25, featuring such activities as a folk song show by folk song singers, performances by Miao girls, and a drum-beating challenge involving the live audience.
Various folk performances including dragon dancing and a molten iron fireworks show will be staged from August 26 to 28. A snack street market will set up to bring a food feast to residents and tourists.
The Liuyueliu folk song festival is one of the four folk festivals in Hunan. It has won the China excellent contemporary festival award and the China excellent festival award marking the 40th anniversary of reform and opening-up and included in the fourth batch of demonstration projects under the national public cultural service system.
The festival is under the guidance of the Publicity Department of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, the Hunan National Religious Affairs Committee, and the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism. The event is hosted by the CPC Shaoyang Municipal Committee and the Shaoyang Municipal People's Government, and organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC Shaoyang Municipal Committee, the Shaoyang Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Radio, Television, and Sports, the CPC Chengbu Miao Autonomous County Committee, and the People's Government of Chengbu Miao Autonomous County.
