On the evening of August 7 local time, Hunan weightlifter Hou Zhihui took gold in the women's 49kg weightlifting event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. She lifted 89kg in the snatch and 117kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 206 kg, breaking the clean and jerk Olympic record. So far, Hunan has clinched its third gold at the Paris Olympics, surpassing the number at the Tokyo Olympics three years ago.
The CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the Hunan Provincial People's Government sent a congratulatory message to the Chinese delegation.
"You have won immense glory for the country and people, as well as Hunan Province. We extend warm congratulations to the Chinese delegation and Hou Zhihui, and heartfelt compliments to all the athletes, coaches, and working staff of the Paris Olympics," read the message.
The message also extended sincere gratitude to the General Administration of Sports and the Chinese weightlifting team for their care and support to Hunan's sports undertakings, wishing that the Chinese delegation would achieve good results at the Olympics.
