As of July 31, 2024, Changsha Huanghua International Airport registered a passenger throughput of more than 18 million, an increase of 18.56% over the same period in 2023, according to the airport. In July, the airport's daily average passenger throughput reached 95,600, with an average departure load factor of 88%.

Changsha airport has launched new air routes reaching 110 cities during the summer vacation. The top ten destinations are Beijing, Xi'an, Chengdu, Haikou, Chongqing, Kunming, Shanghai, Xiamen, Ji'nan, and Qingdao. The airport has processed new routes linking Changsha with cities such as Hailar, Korla, Yan'an, Huangshan, and Yanji. Increased flight frequency is seen between Changsha and Beijing, Urumchi, Yinchuan, Sanya, Xiamen, Kunming, and Xining. All these efforts help boost aviation market development during the summer travel rush.

The airport has opened new international passenger air routes (including charter flights) and increased flight frequency during the summer travel rush. Changsha resumed air routes reaching Thailand's Phuket and South Korea's Jeju, and increased flights to Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur. In particular, Changsha airport has processed 29 flights to and from Thailand's Bangkok every week, 11 flights to and from South Korea's Seoul, 11 flights to and from Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur, seven flights to and from Singapore, three flights to and from Kenya's Nairobi, three flights to and from UK's London, and three flights to and from Thailand's Phuket. These measures have further strengthened central China's role as a major transport channel in the RCEP region.
