The pre-registration process for the 2024 Changsha Marathon came to an end on July 28. According to the organizing committee, nearly 150,000 applicants have signed up.
Data shows that among all the applicants, 70% are male and 30% are female. The male-to-female ratio is 8:2 for the full marathon, 7:3 for the half marathon, and 5:5 for the fun run.
In terms of the event, about 7,000 applicants—nearly 50% of the total, signed up for the half marathon (21.0975 km); 42,000 applicants registered for the full marathon (42.195 km); and, about 36,000 individuals and families for the fun run (5 km).
In recent years, the Changsha Marathon has attracted more and more participants from other domestic provinces and regions, as well as from foreign countries. This year, the ratio of applicants from Hunan to those from other regions reached 3:7. The five regions with the highest number of applicants are: Hunan, Guangdong, Jiangxi, Beijing, and Zhejiang. Besides, there are applicants from 22 foreign countries, including Japan, Canada, the UK, South Korea, Malaysia, the USA, and Singapore.
The applicants cover all age groups, with 37% of the total born in the 1980s, and 25% and 21% born in the 1970s and the 1990s respectively.
The results of the draw will be announced on August 20, following the application review process.
