Changsha's Import Value Hits Record High in H1

Changsha's total import and export value reached 135.11 billion yuan in the first half of 2024, accounting for 47.9% of the province's total, according to data released by Xingsha Customs on July 24. Of the total, exports stood at 84.39 billion yuan while imports hit a record high of 50.72 billion yuan, up 14.7% year on year.

From January to June, Changsha imported 17.58 billion yuan of integrated circuits, automatic data processing equipment parts, storage parts, semiconductor devices, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, registering an average increase of 45.5% and accounting for 34.7% of the city's total. The city imported 5.18 million tonnes of bulk commodities, up 21.9%. Among them, there are 3.589 million tonnes of metal ores and mineral sand, 1.494 million tonnes of energy products, and 96,000 tonnes of grain, increasing by 15.4 times.

In the first 6 months, Changsha exported 55.87 billion yuan of mechanical and electrical products, accounting for 66.2% of the total export value in the same period. In particular, the export value of passenger cars and integrated circuits surged by 767.6% and 124.7% to 3.14 billion yuan and 2.19 billion yuan, respectively, and that of construction machinery reached 15.35 billion yuan, with the average export price per unit rising by 37.9%. Exports of the "new three"—new energy vehicles, lithium-ion batteries, and photovoltaic products—grew 80.9% year on year to 4.36 billion yuan.
