The 8th Competition of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic of WAAMA lowered its curtain in Changchun, Jilin Province. The Hunan team excelled in the competition, winning first prizes in Group of player, Group A, and Group C, and 10 first prizes in the individual events. This marks the best results in the history of Hunan's participation in such competitions, and raised the profile of the Hunan brand in the inheritance and promotion of abacus and mental arithmetic.

The competitors were divided into 5 groups—Group of player, Group A, Group B, Group C, and Group D. Chinese competitors participated in the events of Group of player, Group A, and Group C. The Hunan team had 13 competitors, among whom the youngest was only 6 years old.
