Changsha Among Top Three Cities for Railway Passenger Departures

Railways with the China Railway Guangzhou Group recorded 31.2 million passenger trips in the first 16 days of the 2024 summer travel rush that kicked off on July 1, an increase of 130,000 compared with the same period of 2023, according to data released by the group on July 17. During the period, the daily average passenger trips reached 1.95 million. In particular, Changsha handled over 4.05 million railway passenger departures, accounting for 39.7% of the province's total.

The data showed that Hunan registered 10.19 million railway passenger departures and 9.62 million railway passenger arrivals from July 1 to 16. The top three cities in terms of railway passenger departures were Guangzhou, Changsha, and Shenzhen, with the amount reaching 6.91 million, 4.05 million, and 3.65 million respectively. These passengers mainly headed for Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, and other tourist cities.

To satisfy passengers' travel demand during the summer travel rush, starting from July 16, six additional trains will be operated along the Chongqing-Xiamen High-speed Railway. 

The specific train numbers are as follows: 

-Train G9769 and G9770 linking Changsha and Longshan North from July 17 to 31;

-Train G9771 and G9772 linking Changsha and Zhangjiajie West from July 17 to 31;

-Train G9778 linking Changsha and Zhangjiajie West from July 16 to 21; and,

-Train G9777 linking Zhangjiajie West and Changsha from July 17 to 22.
