Hunan Airport Group Increases Flight Routes During Summer Vacation

The 2024 summer travel rush spans from July 1 to August 31, lasting for 62 days. It was learned from the Hunan Airport Group that during this period, the 10 airports in Hunan Province are expected to handle 7.19 million passenger trips in total, up 6.8% year on year, with 50,660 flights planned. Among them, the Changsha Huanghua International Airport is expected to handle 6.02 million passenger trips, a year-on-year increase of 8.4% , with 40,270 flights planned.


Hunan civil aviation passenger traffic is expected to keep busy this summer, and the peak of passenger flow is expected to occur in early July and late August. During the summer vacation period, a variety of travel modes such as parent-child tours, study tours, and leisure tours will be intertwined, and multiple passenger flows such as public and business passengers, student passengers, and travel groups are to overlap, resulting in an average passenger load factor of more than 80% during the summer travel peak. Hunan planned to open flight routes to 135 domestic and international cities, including popular destinations such as Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Xi'an, Urumqi, and Qingdao.


During this period, the Hunan Airport Group will add or increase flight frequency of a number of routes. Domestically, Changsha Airport is expected to link 117 cities nationwide, adding new flights to Hailar, Korla, Yan'an, and increasing flights to Beijing, Urumqi, Yinchuan, Sanya, Xiamen, Kunming, Xining and other popular tourist cities. Zhangjiajie Airport will add flights to Beijing, and Huaihua Airport will add flights to Chengdu and Quanzhou.


Internationally, Changsha Airport will have direct flights to 10 cities: Nairobi, Kenya; London, the United Kingdom; Phuket and Bangkok, Thailand; Seoul and Jeju, South Korea; Vientiane, Laos; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Singapore; and Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Among them, the number of flights from Changsha to Bangkok will reach 29 per week, while flights to Seoul will reach 14 per week. Zhangjiajie Airport will add new flights to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and link 12 international and regional cities, including Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam; Manila, the Philippines; Seoul, South Korea; and, Bangkok, Thailand. Zhangjiajie has also opened flight routes to 5 cities in South Korea.
