The 17th (2024) International Photovoltaic Power Generation and Smart Energy Conference & Exhibition, the world's most influential event in the solar sector, concluded in Shanghai recently. Changsha's leading enterprises in the advanced energy storage materials industrial sector participated, including the CNGR Group, Hunan Desay Battery Co., Ltd., and Hunan Red Solar Photoelectricity Science and Technology Co., Ltd. These companies released a slew of new cutting-edge products, becoming a highlight of this event.

During the three-day exhibition, more than 3,500 new energy companies from around the world gathered together to display the latest technological achievements, jointly writing a new chapter in green energy.

Changsha is home to a number of leading enterprises in the advanced energy storage materials industry such as Shanshan, CNGR, and Changyuan Lico. With support from Central South University, Hunan University and other colleges and universities, the city has achieved many innovative outcomes including the manufacturing technology of high-energy-density safe lithium-ion batteries and their critical materials, and Changsha’s profile within the industry has grown steadily.

Data shows that Changsha's ternary precursor materials shipments ranked first in the country in 2023, occupying nearly 30% of the domestic market. Meanwhile, the city's domestic market share of anode materials and anode material-producing kilns exceeded 25% and 30%, respectively. The city's output value of energy storage materials ranked fifth in the country in 2023.

"Changsha's advanced energy storage materials industry has passed the threshold of a 100-billion-yuan industry, and the city is teaming with Zhuzhou, Xiangtan, and Chenzhou cities to build a national advanced manufacturing industry cluster," noted a representative of the Changsha Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology. Changsha's advanced energy storage materials industry is expected to achieve an output value of 150 billion yuan by 2025, according to the city's 14th Five-Year Plan for the development of the industry.
