A Boeing 767 all-cargo freighter landed at the Changsha Huanghua International Airport on June 9 afternoon, after a 13-hour flight from Ferenc Liszt International Airport in Budapest, capital of Hungary. This was the 100th flight serving the Changsha-Budapest all-cargo air route.
The Changsha-Budapest air freight route, linking Hunan with Europe, was launched in December 2023. So far, 3,383 tonnes of cargo have been delivered through the route, mainly imported and exported products of Hunan's cross-border e-commerce and manufacturing businesses. With this route, the transportation time from departure from the factory to arrival in the destination has been shortened to only 24 hours, saving nearly 12 hours and reducing nearly 5% of logistics cost compared to transfer arrangements through other domestic airports.
Changsha airport currently operates 17 international air freight routes on a regular basis, bound for such destinations as Budapest, London, New York, Inchon, Addis Ababa, and Bangkok. These routes link Changsha with five major economies of the world—the EU, ASEAN, North America, Africa, and the Middle East.
As of late May this year, Changsha airport has handled 67,000 tonnes of cargo, a year-on-year increase of 21.3%. This includes 27,000 tonnes of international cargo, increasing 27.2% over last year.
The airport will continue to enhance its international air freight route network, focusing on Central and Eastern Europe and launching all-cargo flights to Kuwait and Frankfurt, building the airport into a world-class aviation hub.
