A number of zongzi production workshops in Daoyuanhu Village, Guankou Neighborhood, Liuyang City, Hunan Province are busy making zongzi for Duanwu Festival or Dragon Boat Festival. In recent years, the village, based on local resources, has promoted the development of zongzi industrial cluster through large-scale production and systematic supporting facilities. More than 60% of the 1,308 households in the village are engaged in zongzi production-related work. The annual output value reached over 130 million yuan in 2023.
Zongzi production is a traditional industry in Daoyuanhu Village. The traditional production techniques of Daoyuanhu zongzi has been listed as a representative item of the ninth batch of intangible cultural heritage of Liuyang City in January 2023.
