Vice Governor Zhou Haibing Meets with Australian Ambassador to China Scott Dewar

On May 30, Zhou Haibing, vice governor of Hunan Province and mayor of Changsha City, met in Changsha with Australian Ambassador to China Scott Dewar and his delegation. Vice Mayor Gao Wenqi, and Xu Fan, secretary general of the Changsha Municipal People's Government, participated.

During the exchange, Mayor Zhou Haibing extended a warm welcome to the guests. He noted that Changsha, with its long history and splendid culture, is among the first batch of national famous historical and cultural cities. In recent years, Changsha has seen a good momentum of development and boasts distinctive industrial strengths, with its manufacturing and cultural sectors gaining nationwide recognition and taking the leading role. Changsha has been honored as the "Capital of Construction Machinery", the "City of Media Arts", and the "East Asia Cultural City". Changsha is also a popular tourist destination and a new consumption hotspot, and its night economy is unique. Currently, Changsha is making all-out efforts to build itself into a global R&D center city, actively introducing and gathering domestic and foreign first-class R&D centers for innovative R&D and achievement commercialization activities. Australia is one of Changsha's most important trading partners. The two places are active in two-way investment and have broad prospects for cooperation. It is hoped that Changsha and Australia will strengthen exchanges and deepen cooperation in manufacturing, agriculture, tourism, and other areas, jointly promote win-win development, and create a better and brighter future.

Ambassador Scott Dewar said that Changsha and Australia enjoy close exchanges and a solid foundation for cooperation. It is hoped that the two sides will continue to maintain close communication and deepen practical cooperation in such fields as agriculture and animal husbandry, steel manufacturing, architectural design, and culture and education, jointly write a new chapter of cooperation, and promote the steady development of friendly relations.
