A month-long special invitational exhibition commemorating the 160th anniversary of the birth of Master Qi Baishi kicked off at the Xiangtan Qi Baishi Memorial Hall on May 25, 2024. A total of 160 calligraphy and painting works created by national calligraphy and painting masters are on display.
Famous painters and calligraphers from various parts of China, including Beijing, Anhui, Heilongjiang, Jiangxi, and more gathered in Qi Baishi's hometown to show their creative achievements, eulogizing the new era in the form of art. Exhibited art works include Chinese paintings, oil paintings, and calligraphy works.
An array of activities will be held during the exhibition period, such as walking around Qi Baishi's hometown and Shaoshan to create artworks. A number of well-known artists from the China Artists Association will make on-site creations.
It was learned that the exhibition is held to pay tribute to the art master Qi Baishi, carrying forward his spirit of artistic innovation, drawing inspiration from his moral and artistic style, and exploring the unique cultural charms of Hunan humanities resources. It aims to prosper cultural and artistic undertakings, forming a strong atmosphere of letting a hundred flowers bloom and a hundred schools of thought contend, and helping Hunan Province build itself into a strong cultural powerhouse.
