Changsha's Foreign Trade Hits 86.97 Billion Yuan in January-April Period

Changsha's foreign trade value reached 86.97 billion yuan in the first four months of this year, accounting for 45.9% of the province's total, data from the Xingsha Customs Authority showed on May 22. Of the total, imports registered a 8.7% year-on-year increase.

From January to April, Changsha's general trade totaled 72.27 billion yuan, contributing to 83.1% of the city's overall foreign trade value. Trade via bonded logistics increased 42.6% year on year to 6.65 billion yuan. Processing trade reached 6.2 billion yuan, up 30% year on year. Imports of mechanical and electrical products grew 31.7% year on year to 14.68 billion yuan, accounting for 43.4% of the total import value. The trade value of 2,776 private enterprises stood at 69.4 billion yuan, taking up 79.8% of the city's total.

In the first four months, Changsha's trade with South America, Taiwan, Russia, and Brazil amounted to 7.29 billion yuan, 5.02 billion yuan, 4.44 billion yuan, and 2.94 billion yuan, up 34.6%, 58%, 13.9%, and 73.2% year on year, respectively.

This year, Changsha's exports of new energy vehicles (NEVs) have seen robust momentum of growth as Hunan Pilot Free Trade Zone's innovative measure—a joint supervision model for battery packaging certification of exported NEVs, began to pay off. The model has been filed with the General Administration of Customs. In January-April period, Changsha exported 1.65 billion yuan of electric vehicles, up 125.6% year on year, with the exports to Brazil, Mexico, Uzbekistan, and other countries increasing exponentially. The city's construction machinery trading partners expanded to 142 countries, and the value of exported goods reached 9.98 billion yuan. Of the total, exports of forklifts soared 152.1% year on year to 2.24 billion yuan.
