At 10 a.m. on May 16, a shield machine named "Konggang No. 4" successfully reached the receiving shaft at the Huanghua Airport T1T2 Station on Changsha Metro Line 6 east extension. This marked the drill-through of the whole-line tunnel of Line 6 east extension.

Line 6 east extension is a vital part of Line 6, an east-west backbone line in Changsha's rail transit network. Located in Huanghua Town, Changsha County, the 4.22-km extension line stretches from the Huanghua Airport T1T2 Station (in operation) in the west to the Huanghua Airport T3 Station (under construction) in the east. The whole line is underground and incudes one station. Upon completion of the extension line, the T1, T2 and T3 terminals of Changsha Huanghua International Airport will be directly connected to Changsha's rail transit network, creating a new transportation option integrating aviation, maglev, high-speed rail, and subway services.
