A set of ceramic works themed "Salute the Changsha Kiln" was selected for the 13th International Ceramics Festival Mino, which will be held in Japan between October 18 and November 17, 2024.
These ceramic works were created by a student who will graduate from the School of Fine Arts and Design of the Changsha Normal University this year.
The International Ceramics Competition Mino is universally recognized as one of the world's three biggest ceramics events. In this session, a total of 200 works stood out from 3,890 entries and will be displayed in Japan in August.
The "Salute the Changsha Kiln" wares were created based on the history and culture of the Changsha Kiln. The creator has dug into the cultural connotations and modern elements of the Changsha Kiln, and combined its most representative ware shapes and poetry and decorative patterns into his design. Besides, the application of modern technologies has injected new vitality into the ceramic works. The creation of these works presented a tribute to the traditional ceramic techniques of the Changsha Kiln, and an effort to integrate traditional and modern elements into ceramic arts.
The International Ceramics Festival Mino is one of the world's biggest ceramics festivals, which is held in Japan every three years since 1986. Its main event—the International Ceramics Exhibition Mino, Japan—is an internationally recognized ceramics competition that brings together ceramic works from countries and regions around the world.
The debut of the Changsha Kiln themed works at such international ceramic event will help revitalize the Changsha Kiln and promote the Changsha kiln culture to the world.
