Changsha's enterprises holding the authorized economic operator (AEO) status registered 22.91 billion yuan of imports and exports in the first quarter of 2024, a year-on-year increase of 8.2%, according to the Xingsha Customs Authority.
Changsha is currently home to 49 enterprises with AEO status. These enterprises, despite representing only 0.35% of the city's total number of enterprises, contributed to 38.1% of the city's total imports and exports value and played a leading role in stabilizing foreign trade.
AEO enterprises authenticated by customs authorities can enjoy preferential treatment in 45 service items, such as lower inspection rates for imported and exported cargoes and prioritized customs clearance. As a synonym for high level of creditworthiness, AEO status is widely recognized in the international community and has great value.
To date, China has signed AEO mutual recognition agreements with 26 economies, including Singapore and the European Union, covering 52 countries and regions. This achievement maintains China's global leadership in both the number of signed mutual recognition agreements and the number of countries and regions which signed agreements with China.
In Changsha, Wasion Group exports its products to more than 50 countries and regions, and has set up localized factories in Tanzania, Brazil, Mexico, and other places. In the first quarter of this year, Wasion Group's imports and exports totaled 190 million yuan, up 35%. Of the total, exports stood at 140 million yuan. "Since our company was granted the AEO status by the customs authority in 2012, inspection and cargo customs clearance efficiency has significantly improved and logistics costs have been greatly reduced," said Zhang Yu, the person in charge of the customs affairs of the Wasion Group.
"In the first quarter, the total foreign trade value of our company exceeded 160 million yuan, of which exports accounted for more than 95%. Since becoming an AEO-certified enterprise last year, our company has gained more trust from foreign customers, thus boosting the growth of order volume," said Xiao Xuehua, customs affairs director of the Hunan Dongyi Industrial & Trading Co., Ltd.
