From April 22 to 26, nearly 30 foreign trainees of an operation and management training class of the Development Countries Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center visited Yongshun and Huayuan counties of Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, to observe and learn from local agricultural development experience of China.

The training class was organized by the Foreign Economic Cooperation Center (FECC) of the Ministry of Agriculture (MARA). The trainees came from eight foreign countries, including Nigeria, Tanzania, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Mauritius, and Serbia.

In Yongshun County, the trainees visited the ancient vine tea planting and protection base in Maoba Township and the high-quality rice production base in Kesha Township, experiencing picking vine tea leaves. They also visited Changping Village in Gaoping Township to learn about the progress of building a beautiful and harmonious countryside. In the kiwi fruit experimental station and the national industrial park for modern agriculture in Yongshun County, they communicated with local staff on kiwi fruit cultivation techniques and modernization of the fruit industry in Wuling Mountainous Area.

"Yongshun's vine tea is different from the black tea produced in Tanzania. It has a very special taste," said a trainee from Tanzania.

In Huayuan County, the trainees visited the targeted poverty alleviation exhibition hall, Lizi Village, and the featured agriculture demonstration park at Shibadong Village. They listened to Shibadong's poverty alleviation stories, learned about Huayuan's experience of tourism development, tea plantation construction, agricultural brand building, and e-commercial platform operation.

A Lebanese trainee was deeply impressed by the huge changes taken place in Shibadong Village. "The villagers have made concerted efforts to boost infrastructure construction and economic development, which have yielded great achievements," he said.

"Through this tour, I've gained a deeper understanding about China's agricultural culture and new technologies of modern agriculture", a Serbian trainee said, adding that "We will bring the experience and technologies back to our country, to promote the development of our agriculture."
