Global fast-food chain McDonald's (China) Co., Ltd kicked off its 8th "Run for Love" campaign at Changsha Xihu Park on April 27. The campaign aims to raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House program, which provides free accommodation and caring support services for families who must travel far from home to access medical care for their children. It creates a 'home away from home' for these families. Nearly 60,000 runners from nearly 25,000 families signed up for the event. The funds will be sent to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (RMHC China) and will be used for operation and construction of physical public welfare projects for the Ronald McDonald House.
At the Changsha Station event, more than 1,000 children and parents dressed in red-and-white striped socks completed the run, in support of families of sick children seeking medical treatment at hospitals far away from their homes. Since its inception in 2014, the "Run for Love" campaign has become an iconic parent-child public welfare activity of McDonald's.
