Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister and Spokesperson Hua Chunying shared a video on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) on March 28. The video showed a light show staged along the Xiangjiang River in Changsha on the evening of March 26, in celebration of the first anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Honduras. The video also showed iconic buildings in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, illuminated in red to commemorate the first anniversary of bilateral ties and the signing of a letter of intent to establish an official sister city relationship between Changsha and San Pedro Sula.
Hua Chunying also shared the following text in Spanish: "Changsha, capital de la Provincia de Hunan, brilla con los colores de la bandera hondureña, mientras San Pedro Sula, la segunda ciudad de Honduras, se ilumina con luces del rojo chino, en conmemoración conjunta del primer aniversario de relaciones diplomáticas sino-hondureñas." It can be translated as: Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province, shines with the colors of the Honduran flag, and meanwhile San Pedro Sula, the second largest city in Honduras, is illuminated in Chinese red, jointly commemorating the first anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Honduras.
