A press conference on the No. 1 Document of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee for 2024 was held in Changsha recently. Hunan's total grain output hit 30.68 million tonnes in 2023, an increase of 500,000 tonnes year on year. The province ranked first nationwide both in rice planting area and total grain output.

In 2023, Hunan has vigorously implemented five farming-related programs and made solid progress in advancing work concerning agriculture, rural areas, and farmers. The province has continued to consolidate gains in poverty elimination, promoted the creation of a picturesque and harmonious countryside landscape, and made new strides in rural revitalization across the board.

In 2024, Hunan will firmly shoulder the responsibility of ensuring food safety, keeping its grain sown area stable at over 71.35 million mu (4.7567 million ha.) and its grain output at about 30.75 million tonnes.
