The attendees, busy shoveling soil and watering saplings, planted such trees as osmanthus, ginkgo, heather, late cherry, and crape myrtle. Secretary Shen learned about the varieties, prices, and daily maintenance of the saplings, and the green center area protection, calling for strengthening maintenance for the saplings and improving their survival rate.

He urged to comprehensively study and implement President Xi Jinping's thought on ecological civilization as well as his important speeches and instructions during his visit to Hunan. The whole province should stay true to the principle that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets, and give top priority to ecological conservation and green development. Efforts should be made to care for green plants, plant trees, protect green areas, and advance green development across Hunan Province, to make the sky bluer, the mountains greener, the waters clearer, and the ecological environment more beautiful, he added.
