Hunan NPC Delegation Holds First Plenary Meeting

The Hunan delegation to the second session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) held its first plenary meeting in Beijing on the afternoon of March 3, 2024. Shen Xiaoming, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and director of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People's Congress, presided over the meeting.

Shen Xiaoming was elected as the head while Mao Weiming, Li Dianxun, Wang Shuangquan, and Wu Lan as the deputy heads of the Hunan delegation. Deputies present at the meeting also included Xu Dazhe, Hu Xusheng, Yang Weigang, Jiang Difei, Zhou Haibing, Zhu Yu, and Li Jiancheng.


The meeting reviewed the list of the presidium and secretary-general (draft) and the agenda of the NPC session (draft), and discussed and approved eight motions. These motions would be submitted to the 14th NPC second session in the name of the Hunan delegation, including suggestions on supporting Changsha to build itself into a global research and development center; accelerating the key railway projects construction in Hunan in the "14th Five-Year Plan"; supporting Hunan's major energy projects construction; supporting the inclusion of the Dongting Lake area as a priority in the long-term support mechanism for the Three Gorges follow-up work; supporting for accelerating the Songhu Channel construction; and, supporting Hunan to build a national hub of advanced manufacturing industry based on the industrial clusters construction.
