A press conference on the Zhangjiajie Tourism Exchange Map was held on February 22, announcing the launch of an "e-map" for inbound tourists to facilitate their payment and foreign exchange.
Main payment and foreign exchange counters in the main urban area of Zhangjiajie City and Wulingyuan Core Scenic Area are available on the map which is based on a WeChat mini-program. The information covers the locations of all designated foreign exchange bank outlets, foreign-related ATMs, foreign currency exchange self-service banks, foreign currency exchange agencies, and major foreign-related POS machines in some business districts. In addition to the address information and business scope of these service points, the map also supports positioning and navigation, which is convenient for overseas personnel to go to these places to handle related business on site.
The WeChat mini program, named "Foreign Exchange Policy Express Service" introduced a dedicated section providing access to the map. Visitors can also view the map online on the homepage of the official website of the Zhangjiajie Municipal People's Government, Zhangjiajie Smart Tourism Platform, and the manual titled "Having Fun in Zhangjiajie".
As a prominent destination for foreign-related tourism in Hunan Province, Zhangjiajie saw a rapid recovery in the inbound tourism sector in 2023, receiving 655,300 inbound tourist visits. In order to enhance the payment services for inbound tourists, Zhangjiajie City has been actively advancing the development of an improved inbound tourism payment service environment, resumed and set up a number of new foreign currency exchange agencies, and upgraded some ATM machines and POS machines since December 2023. Thanks to these efforts, foreign exchange services now extend to Zhangjiajie's railway stations, high-speed railway stations, bus stations, and airport as well as business districts in the main urban area, Wulingyuan Core Scenic Area, relevant international travel agencies and star-rated foreign-related hotels.
